Suck it Vegas

You’ll be sad all summer, Knights.

To be perfectly honest, I’m relieved that the Golden Knights failed to win the Stanley Cup in their inaugural season. How would winning a Cup have been fair, at all? It wouldn’t.

I’m very happy for the Capitals, and their long-suffering fans, now celebrating their first Cup in their 44th season. That’s a long dang time to play a sport without winning the trophy. They earned it, and they’re enjoying it now.

It’s good to see a team break through. It gives us hope as Blues fans that it can and will happen, no matter how long the delay.  Seeing the Capitals players celebrate with relief and joy gives us a glimpse of what it will be like when the Blues win their first ever Stanley Cup. It will be unbelievable, and I really look forward to it.

And it feels just that the Golden Knights did not win in their first-ever season. All teams are different, but it just wouldn’t be right for a brand new team to not endure failure before reaching the Promised Land. You need to put in your dues, Vegas.

Also, what’s up with that awful grey in your uniforms? The helmet logo is sharp, but the color scheme needs tweaking. Grey just isn’t a good look in most sports uniforms. Grey belongs on wolves and men’s suits.

I was telling a friend of mine about Vegas and speculating how they are so good right off the bat. Is it the Island of Misfit Toys? Are they all playing with a chip on their shoulders because their former teams made them available in the expansion draft? Maybe both? It’s a unique set of circumstances and one I’ll be studying further, but there’s no doubt they gelled in an amazing way.

And of course, I’m happy for former Blue T. J. Oshie being a part of the winning team. Wish he was still with the Blues.

Good on you Capitals for winning after so long. Good on you Knights or a fantastic run and a Western Conference title.

I really hope the Blues’ turn is coming soon.
