Ivan Barbashev is putting together a career-best season

If you poll the average Blues fan, they would most likely tell you the hero of this season offensively is Jordan Kyrou. That’s a fine answer, of course. The young winger is emerging as not just a legitimate, nightly scoring threat, but as an up-and-coming dynamic young player in all of the NHL. His accolades are recognition are rightly deserved.

But another young player is being overlooked, one who is quietly putting together a career best kind of season. That would be Ivan Barbashev.

Wherefore Art Thou, Barbashev?

Zach Sanford figures to receive more ice time should Ivan Barbashev not return to the club.

Ivan Barbashev is the last bit of unfinished business for Doug Armstrong and the St. Louis Blues. He is the last restricted free agent to be unsigned.

The Blues had to wait for Joel Edmundon’s contract to be resolved before they could finalize their approach with Barbashev. And they don’t have much room to increase their offer to the Russian forward.

The St. Louis Blues 4th line, as it’s currently constituted, has a combined 29 goals and 39 assists, for a point total of 68.
